Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about using Found to explore the Internet Archive.
1. What is Found?
Found is an immersive mobile browser designed specifically for exploring the millions of free books, movies, music, and artifacts hosted on the Internet Archive (archive.org). We focus on making history beautiful and easy to discover.
2. Do I need an account to use the app?
No. Found does not require any login or account creation. Your "Follows," "Collections," and recommendation data are stored privately on your own device.
3. Is the content in the app free?
Yes. Found surfaces millions of items that are in the public domain or covered by Creative Commons licenses. These are free to view, read, and listen to.
4. Can I download things for offline use?
Currently, Found supports streaming and viewing content. Many items can be shared as links. We are exploring native offline support for future updates.
5. How do recommendations work?
Found uses a local "Learning" system. As you interact with items, the app learns your preferences for certain tags, creators, and media types. This processing happens entirely on your device for your privacy.
6. What should I do if a link is broken?
Found relies on the Internet Archive's servers. If an item fails to load, it may be temporarily unavailable on their end. You can try refreshing the view or checking back later.
